Imagine waking up to the soft glow of the morning sun filtering through the trees, the gentle sound of the lake lapping against the shore, and the crisp northern air filling your lungs. At our four-season cottage on Tait Lake, you’ll find the perfect blend of relaxation, adventure, and natural beauty, all just six minutes from Bancroft.
Morning Serenity & Lakeside Bliss
Your day starts with a steaming cup of coffee on the spacious deck, overlooking 175 feet of private waterfront. As the mist rises from the lake, you can take a moment to breathe in the peacefulness of the surroundings. Whether you’re an early riser looking to catch the first light of day or someone who enjoys a slow start, this is your moment to soak up the beauty of cottage life.
If you’re visiting in the summer, a morning paddle in one of the kayaks or a refreshing swim off the dock is the perfect way to start the day. The sandy shoreline makes it easy to wade in, and the floating dock with a slide is sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike. In the winter, you can bundle up and take a short two-minute drive to the local outdoor skating rink for a few laps before breakfast.
Breakfast & Planning the Day’s Adventure
Inside, the open-concept layout of the cottage makes meal prep a breeze. Whether you're cooking up a hearty breakfast on the BBQ outside or preparing a meal in the well-equipped kitchen, there’s plenty of space to gather and plan the day ahead.
For those who love the outdoors, the nearby snowmobile and ATV trails provide endless opportunities for exploration. In the winter, hop on your sled and set out for a scenic ride through snow-covered landscapes. If you’re visiting in the warmer months, hiking, fishing, and boating are all at your fingertips.
A Day of Exploring Bancroft & Beyond
Just six minutes away, Bancroft offers a charming small-town experience with plenty to see and do. You can start by exploring the quaint local shops, grabbing a coffee from one of the cozy cafés, or visiting the Bancroft Mineral Museum to learn about the area’s rich geological history.
One of Bancroft’s must-see attractions is Eagle’s Nest Lookout, a stunning vantage point that offers panoramic views of the town and surrounding landscape. A short hike leads you to breathtaking scenery, making it the perfect spot for photos and a moment of reflection.
If you’re traveling with kids, you might want to check out some of the local parks, or in the winter, enjoy a classic Canadian experience—outdoor skating at the local rink.
Afternoon Relaxation & Lakeside Fun
After a morning of exploring, it’s time to head back to the cottage for some well-earned relaxation. In the summer, spend the afternoon lounging by the water, reading a book on the dock, or playing lawn games found in the shed under the deck. The fire pit area is a great place to gather, share stories, and roast marshmallows as the sun begins to set.
For those visiting in the winter, the private hot tub is the ultimate way to warm up and unwind. Imagine sinking into the warm, bubbling water while the snow falls gently around you—a true winter wonderland experience.
Dinner & Cozy Evenings at the Cottage
As the day winds down, fire up the BBQ on the deck or cook a delicious meal inside. The open-concept design allows for easy conversation while dinner is being prepared. Whether it’s a home-cooked meal or takeout from one of Bancroft’s local restaurants, dinner at the cottage is all about good food and great company.
After dinner, gather in the cozy living area for a family game night, a movie, or simply enjoy the quiet sounds of the lake. If you’re up for a late-night adventure, step outside and look up—the lack of city lights means incredible stargazing opportunities.
A Few Friendly Cottage Guidelines
To ensure that every guest has an enjoyable stay, we kindly ask that you respect the following guidelines:
No Smoking, Vaping, or Open Flames Indoors: This includes candles and incense. Violations may result in the loss of your security deposit.
Guest Limit & Noise Consideration: The cottage is meant for those listed on the booking. We ask that guests respect the quiet nature of the area and keep noise levels reasonable, especially in the evenings.
Respect the Property: Please treat our family cottage as if it were your own—wash dishes, return items to their place, and take all garbage and recycling with you upon departure.
Use of Amenities: The hot tub is available year-round, though water changes are less frequent in the winter. Firewood is not provided, so please bring your own if you plan on using the fire pit. Life jackets, kayaks, and lawn games are available for use—please return them when done.
Winter Parking Considerations: The driveway can be challenging in the winter, and we recommend vehicles with all-wheel drive or good snow tires. While we try to maintain an alternative parking spot, heavy snowfall may impact availability.
A Perfect End to a Perfect Stay
As your stay comes to an end, you’ll find yourself already planning your next visit. Whether you spent your time adventuring through the trails, skating under the stars, or simply relaxing by the water, Tait Lake offers a perfect escape in every season.
