Merlindale is a self-contained, two bed/two bath apt. by River Tweed.

Merlindale Holiday Apartment is part of a Victorian Country House set in 16 acres of beautiful parkland by the River Tweed. It has its own entrance and parking space and is very quiet and peaceful in the middle of stunning countryside. It has just been upgraded and refurbished to a very high standard and has been awarded a 5 star classification grade from the Scottish Tourist Board. It sleeps 4 very comfortably and consists of, one double bedroom with king size bed, one twin room, large lounge with log burning stove and dining area, well equipped kitchen with dining area and separate utility room and two bathrooms. The hall is large and has a table tennis table available for use of guests. All linen is provided together with central heating, hot water, logs and toiletries (Highland Soap) and a welcome pack of food containing freshly baked bread, butter, tea, coffee, milk, jams, cereals, free range eggs and Border biscuits.


Reviews.: We have been open since the 2007 season but the guests we have had have ranged from couples to families. The quality of the accommodation has been praised, the location which is just beautiful has been admired, the grounds and privacy have also been acclaimed.

Had a wonderful stay at Merlindale while visiting family in Drumelzier. Denise was very accommodating and made stay perfect' The complimentary breakfast supplies were appreciated. Spent most nights curled up on the super comfy couches with a roaring fire whilst our older kids played pingpong. Look forward to returning soon.

2019 July: Wonderful place, we spent marvellous days in this nice apartment with its high standard of equipment, and enjoyed the beautiful garden and environment. The children had a lot of fun with the table tennis.(Sabine. Germany)

One of the best
We have stayed in many properties over the years and this is definitely one of the nicest. Set in a beautiful area with wonderful views, it is a spacious and very well-appointed apartment where everything you could hope for is provided including some delicious supplies. The hosts were so helpful and made us very welcome. We only stayed three nights as we were visiting family but would love to return for longer and explore the area.

Very well equipped for four, with separate entry to our flat in the original servants quarters at the back of the house. Enjoyed the table tennis opportunity! Excellent location for exploring the western Scottish Borders and day trips further afield.

Property is as described. Quaint and peaceful. You do need a car to get around as mentioned in the listing but the area is very scenic and pretty. You can easily unwind with nature for a few days and it's also close enough to Edinburgh and Glasgow for to drive (just short of an hour) if you'd like to visit. Would recommend.

Scenic and comfortable stay at Merlindale
This is an exceptional apartment in an outstandingly beautiful area. The accommodation was extremely spacious and well-equipped/furnished and we had everything we could possibly need for a very comfortable stay. The provision of breakfast basics, tea, milk etc. was greatly appreciated, as were Denise’s helpful texts with suggestions for things to do, walks, etc. Above all, we loved the grounds and the surrounding countryside. As we were in the Peebles area for a family wedding at Neidpath castle, we were frequently out and about on errands, but we made a point of walking along the woodland path in the grounds each day and enjoying the peace and quiet sitting on the bench at the end. On a couple of occasions we were also able to try out one of the suggested country walks a little further afield. We also had a lovely morning at the botanical gardens at Dawyck. We were fortunate with the weather and enjoyed some spectacular sunsets from the living-room window. Merlindale is an ideal base, to which we hope to return and explore further.

The property is very quaint and cozy. The grounds are stunning, with so much greenery and even some wildlife! Birds, rabbits, squirrels, deer, etc. The included amenities (washing machine, full kitchen, fireplace) all made us feel all the more at home. I cannot recommend this property enough for anyone looking to experience the Scottish country side!

The apartment was as advertised. We appreciated the welcome pack and the essentials. The place is a lot bigger than it looks in the pictures. It had everything needed for a restful stay. We enjoyed the peaceful surroundings and the comfortable bed after our hill walks and trail runs. The washer & dryer was a huge bonus after the wet outings. The place is perfect for a family or sharing with friends, we would love to revisit and explore the rest of the hills in future. Thank you Denise.

Lovely getaway - Confortable apartment
We spent a lovely week at Merlindale apartment. It was very well equipped with the bonuses of a Table tennis and football table for my two boys, plus the football goal outside in the garden. A very spacious and lovely place. Very confortable beds and all the basic essentials left on arrivals were a lovely touch. Communication with Denise was fantastic and we were given lots of tips about places to go. Great location and we loved the surrounding area. Thank you! Lovely self contained ground floor apartment. Home from Home.Every detail has been thought of from comfortable sofas, beds and toiletries. Especially nice was the breakfast food pack on arrival. Excellent communication with owner all via text due to covid.

Lovely getaway in what felt a very remote part of the Scottish Borders, but is very close to Peebles and Biggar. It's got everything you need for a relaxing time away, we'll definitely be back!

Fabulous apartment in beautiful location
The owners of the property were wonderful, they sent clear instructions prior to our arrival. The apartment is huge, it has absolutely everything anyone could possibly want - full size fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, oven and hob, lots of crockery, glasses and cutlery. A “Welcome Pack” was a very thoughtful gift as well as being utterly delicious. The property is set in a beautiful part of Scotland and within spectacular grounds. If you need a peaceful place to regain your sanity this is definitely the place for you. We wholeheartedly recommend this property.
