Could not reach property manager for check in directions. Arrived in San Jose with no where to sta
Nov 28 and 29 I tried to contact host. In the morning of November 29, I called VRBO and was told that they would contact the host and if they couldn’t no worries they would look after me in San Jose. I assumed this meant they would find us a place to stay. When I arrived in San Jose, I learned they had not been able to contact the host. Apparently what they meant by going to look after me was, they were willing to refund my money and make a payment toward another booking. I told them I didn’t want a refund, that I needed a place to stay because I was standing outside the airport. I could not book the new place through Vrbo . The hotels close to the airport were full and we were left to fend for ourselves. Ultimately we had to trust a taxi driver who took us downtown to a hotel with vacancy. We were very uncomfortable in this location in the morning. I contacted Vrbo again and was told they do not do same day booking so we had to book through Expedia and that if we spent more on what we chose that we could request additional money toward it. We ended up staying at a bed and breakfast for less money so I didn’t go through the process. I was told that day that the new location had to be in the general area of the original booking as well which in Costa Rica is pretty hard to determine especially when you’ve been left at a location you are unsure of.
