Woodward Lake Sanctuary offers a peaceful, tranquil setting abundant in water fowl (geese, ducks, heron, loons, cranes) perfect for kayaking, breathtaking sunrise/sunset, yet minutes away from downtown Cadillac, Lake Cadillac and Lake Mitchell, biking, hiking, snowmobile trails, ski resorts, golf courses, restaurants, and winery. A 40-minute drive to Traverse City offers Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes, annual Cherry Festival, restaurants, and local theatre entertainment.

This home away from home offers the comforts and amenities in a cozy, warm eco-friendly setting for relaxation, decompression, and an opportunity to enjoy quality time with family and friends. A selection of coffee, tea, spices, and essential cookware for meal preparation is available, Wi-Fi and Smart TV for indoor entertainment, and two kayaks, a 12’ aluminum rowboat, propane and charcoal grills, and fire pit for outdoor entertainment.

As this is an eco-friendly environment, removal of footwear is encouraged (indoor shoes or slippers an alternative option) in order to protect indoor setting from outdoor toxins such as bacteria. This is also a pet-free environment for the protection of those with allergies.

Lake cottage retreat
Dear Ruth, This cottage is so cute and cosy and feels like we came home! You have made this cottage so comfortable and thiught of everything! The lake is amazing and we were able to enjoy morning sunrises, swans, sand cranes and geese. Our family came over and we enjoyed the kayaks and rowboat and fishing on the lake. The firepit was set up and and ready to go and we had smores after a great day on the lake. Thanks afain for a great stay. We have shared with our friends and family what a wonderful cottage this was and looking forward to coming back! Jackie Monteith Ps, thanks for so many extra touches like the fresh flowers on the kitchen table, candy bowl in the living room, mints on the towels and firepit set up for the fire made it extra special!! 😊

We truly love the entire stay. Incredibly well kept home, nice & well kept property. We are seriously wanting to come back for a week this coming summer if there is an availability. very nice stay. clean-nice touches with chocolates on towels. everything we needed was there, near towns, but quite at the lake. needed to fix one recliner that didnt work, but not a big deal. great for our girls birthday trip.

A nice getaway
The home was very nice and well stocked. I had trouble with the lock box and no one returned my call. Obviously I figured it out. Extra towel/washcloth location should be included in the email including the other pertinent info; we didn't see the tiny sign until late the second day and went and bought washcloths because one for 3 days wouldn't do it. We had a nice relaxing time, thank you!

Wonderful, quiet lakeside getaway! More than a “cabin” really, which can accommodate 5 people with 1.5 bathrooms. All of the amenities - kitchen, bath, bedrooms, and outdoors (grill, fire pit, kayaks, rowboat) - included!

Woodward Lake sanctuary
We enjoyed our stay at Ruth’s place! There were very thoughtful, unexpected touches such as chocolates on our pillows, fresh flowers on the table when we arrived, and a stack of wood already prepared and ready to light in the firepit! The lake is calm and serene, and overall location is a nice launching point to adventures throughout northwest Michigan. The cottage itself is as described; nothing fancy, but affordable, clean and adequate space for our family of five. Thank you Ruth!

Great get away spot!
This is the second time staying here and we really liked it. Bonfires by the lake at night and fishing the many lakes in the area were highlights for us. The place is clean, the view is beautiful, and the Wi-Fi has been updated to a faster speed, which helped entertain us on the day we got rained out. We plan to stay here again next year!

Holiday in Cadillac
Ruth is truly a SuperHost! Stayed during the Christmas Holiday and the special Holiday touches were so sweet! We even had Christmas lights on upon checking in. This is our second time staying and will not be our last. Not only did we have the essentials but many extras Ruth really thinks of everything a guest may need. Very clean and comfortable, leaps and bounds over a Hotel room. Super easy check in and great communication. Thank you

We enjoyed our stay. The home was cozy and clean. The neighborhood was quiet, the lake was beautiful, & it wasn't too far from town. The only issue we had (not really even an issue), my daughter & I were too tall for the shower head but we adapted. We will stay again if the need arises.

The back porch made my vacation! There is a small screened in back porch that is perfect for a cup of coffee, a stack of books and a view of the lake. I didn't need much more than that.

Place was very nice and clean inside. Bring your clothes, toiletries, and food and your pretty much set. Everything you need is there... amenities were beyond impressive. We had a nice time in the nearby state park and grilling by the firepit while relaxing watching wildlife in/around the lake. Thank you very much for sharing your property with us.

We absolutely loved this property! It was the cleanest place we have ever stayed! All the essentials were there and organized in a very uncluttered manner. We really liked having the space to actually store our belongings/food. Made us feel like we were home! We appreciated the kayaks & firewood.
