EC can sleep 4 comfortably. There is a queen size bed as well as a queen size pull out couch. The kitchenette is equipped with a keurig coffee maker, toaster, electric kettle, hot plate, microwave and refrigerator. The bathroom has several extras in case you forget something. The shower, which has exposed copper plumbing, is sure to impress. Outside there is a small patio with adirondack chairs that over looks the horse pasture and our beautiful Panhandle sunsets that stretch for miles and miles.

Cute Canyon Train Car
Fun get away in an original Boxcar. Very comfortable and relaxing. Highly recommend. Close to Palo Duro Canyon and the cute town of Canyon with several shops and restaurants. .

El Capitan was quaint and vintage decor. Loved the amenities and all the property had to offer! Peaceful and enjoyed the stay! The host was amazing and so attentive. Less than 15 minutes to the canyon and 25 to Amarillo for the Big Texas Steakhouse. It was my husband and I and our two fur babies. We would definitely recommend if you’re heading that way ! One of a kind!!

Renovated Boxcar Was A Very Unique Stay
Our host Becky provided the two of us with a unique and quiet venue for the duration of our stay. Appreciated having the refrigerator / freezer available to make ice cubes that went into our water bottles for a warm outdoor hike at Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Was also grateful of the host making the boxcar functional, comfortable, and air conditioned during the warm afternoons. Enjoyed spending time with the horses and the dogs, too. Thank you for a terrific stay!

We loved this "feel of Texas" place of stay! It was so quiet and peaceful.The bed is extremely comfortable and my husband raved about the shower. Location is close to hiking but less than 30 minutes to Amarillo. So many little extras. A+ h

Visit to Palo Duro Canyon
This was an overnight stay after visiting Palo Duro Canyon on our way to Durango Colorado to ride the train to Silverton. The El Capitan was most appealing from VRBO properties listed in the area and did not disappoint. It was very clean and easily accessible and appealed to us right away. Very unique and furnished in rustic Western style that we loved. Wish we had more time there and already have friends wanting to stay in El Capitan from pics we sent home. Definitely a property we would stay at again.

Lovely, unique stay in Canyon
We wanted a unique place to stay away from Amarillo and closer to Palo Duro. Becky's El Capitan renovated train car delivered! Becky was great with communication and directions. Renovated train car offered enough room for family of 3 (queen bed and fold-out couch), kitchenette with frig, microwave, and coffee maker. Just 15 minutes to Palo Duro. If you’re looking for a relaxing stay with a lovely host and in a quiet area, El Capitan is the place!

We were small family staying only 1 night on our way home from Colorado. Becky was so easy to communicate with, friendly and accomidating. We were met by personalized snacks and touches. It was so peaceful we were all sad we couldn’t stay longer.

Wonderful experience.
My daughter and her new husband stayed here, and she said it was a wonderful experience. It was clean and decorated really cute. She said there were lots of little amenities that made them feel special. The host was very easy to communicate with as well.

Beautiful Secluded Area.
My wife and I were up here to visit Palo Duro Canyon, and wanted somewhere quiet and peaceful. My father used to collect model trains - so the idea of staying in a retired box car caught my eye. Located on the owners property outside of Canyon - this was a great location. The host was communicative, and the property was well stocked and comfortable. It was nice knowing the host was right there if we needed anything, but we were far enough away for ample privacy. Located minutes away from the state park, Canyon, and the highway up to Abilene it was very convenient. We were not a fan of the skylight right above our heads in the bedroom - especially in the morning - so just be aware - they currently cannot be blocked. Not a negative - but something to know. Really enjoyed our time here - great place, great hosts.
