Whalers Cottage
Vous pourrez profiter de la riche histoire de chasse à la baleine, les opérations laitiers, la pêche de l'ormeau, et de la conserve qui étaient parmi beaucoup d'entreprise prospère qui AM Allan exploité sur cette propriété historique datant de 1898. Cette maison à deux niveaux est parfaitement situé pour maximiser les vues de Point Lobos et se trouve à quelques pas de la plage du monastère - célèbres pour la plongée et battant la houle. Prenez plaisir à les balayer vues panoramiques sur l'océan de Point Lobos et une plage de sable blanc que votre arrière-cour. Les plongeurs viennent de loin pour profiter des forêts de varech, les loutres, les phoques, les baleines et d'autres animaux sauvages trouvés dans les eaux au large de la plage du monastère. Planchers de bois franc, une cheminée et de grands panneaux de verre brouillent les lignes entre vie intérieure et extérieure. 3 chambres d'hôtes sur la propriété. Deux 2 chambres une 3 chambres.

JUST WHAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED!
If the Whalers Cottage isn’t the definition of the word “CHILL!”, then I don’t know what else it could be! The soothing sounds of the ocean, crackling fireplace and solitude are outstanding and re-energizing! A fantastic place to come and decompress for couples or the family! My fav moments are when I’d bring my book out with a glass of wine and sit in the bench between the pines overlooking the ocean waves crashing ashore a mere 20 yards away! It was better than advertised. Close to “city”, hiking and nestled on an incredible beach. We highly recommend it. Our only advice is that though they permit dogs, there are a lot of guidelines. I would suggest you don’t bring them. We did and had an amazing experience but would not next time. Truly an amazing time and experience.

Spectacular location - spectacular stay
There could be no better location to stay in Carmel. This cottage is literally steps from the beach and the trails. The owners are extremely fast to respond, The owners clearly spent a great deal of time leaving us notes on the cottage and their preferences, toiletries for our stay, welcome wine, etc. The cottage was as described and had everything we could possibly need: games, fully equipped kitchen, toiletries, binoculars, special dog towels (love this idea and that they were clearly marked - thank you!), wood, etc…. There were no hassles no complications. Absolutely fabulous week - thank you Sara and Patrick. Clearly very thoughtful owners.

Incredible location!
The location is unbeatable, close to shopping Carmel village and numerous restaurants and galleries. Great walking trails overlooking the bluffs were a nice plus. The beach is not safe for swimming though but there are others close by. The house is comfortable; but the rules are onerous. For all the expectations for the care of the property, we were surprised to find very dirty carpet and worn furniture. Pets are limited to certain areas of the house which should be noted upfront. (Not truly pet friendly.) The kitchen is very well equiped and lots of space. If you are looking for the best views and a peaceful environment, you will not be disappointed. The master bedroom view is absolutely spectacular. We saw a family of deer and a coyote too. Has a wonderful time!

Quaint, cozy, comfortable, funky… Built in 1904. Amazing location, unfettered views, fully-equipped, plenty of firewood (burned it everyday), will return with my family again. Great hosts as well; very responsive.

Private Slice of Paradise
My family and I stayed at the Whalers Cottage in November and had a dreamy, relaxing, memorable time. Falling asleep to the sound of waves and waking up to the view of the ocean past the meadow in the front of the cabin was a memory that will always be carved in my mind. Everything was beyond clean and there was a fully stocked kitchen. This place is a true gem.

Magical

Christmas at Whalers. Cottage
A fantastic location near Pt. Lobos, with adjacent walking paths along the beach and a beautiful view across the Monastery Beach bay. Close to Carmel, with easy access to shops and restaurants. The house is part of local history. With modern updates and a well stocked kitchen. Roomy enough for 4 adults (parents and two adult children). Highly recommend for a Carmel experience just enough off the beaten path and away from crowded neighborhoods. Having your dogs with you is a treat!

Gorgeous views in private, peaceful setting
This cozy, historic cottage has amazing location- with amazing views, access to beach and walking trails, as well as within a quick drive to shops and restaurants. Walking through the front door, the ocean view stopped me in my tracks. It is so incredibly beautiful, and changes throughout the day and as the weather shifts. The scenery alone is worth a stay here. The main living room/dining room has the widest view, but the kitchen and master bedroom have similar views. The master bedroom includes a chair and ottoman, should you want to enjoy the views from an elevated position during the day. The cottage is well furnished with everything you'd need. In the backyard, there are 3 picnic/patio tables, with several sets of additional chairs, so there's always a perfect place to eat a meal, read a book, or just sit and watch the waves and wildlife. Even though the cottage is over 100 years old, it has been updated with 2 bathrooms and modern kitchen. There is enough sitting at the 2 dining tables to accommodate at least 10 people, if you are renting more than one of the cottages and want to have group meals. If you like exploring, you can walk on the trails that go out the backyard gate to the south. You can stay up off the beach for a brisker walk, or walk in the sand and rocks if you are more in the exploring mood. (We did both!) The trail will take you to the Carmel River, which you can then loop around and take back to the cottage for about a 40 minute walk. If you are looking for something more, drive the mile or so down the highway to Point Lobos State Reserve ($10 entry). Go early to get a parking space, as there are a limited number, and pay the $2 extra for a map. There are limited locations to picnic, so pack a meal, but be respectful and plan your hike so that you can eat in one of the picnic locations. This reserve is so beautiful and you will appreciate the serenity of it all. The best of Carmel dining is only a 5-10 minute drive away. We highly recommend Casanova for an unforgettable experience. There are plenty of shops and galleries there too, if you in the shopping mood. If you are looking for a relaxing place with the sounds of waves crashing, and views to die for, while not being but a few minutes away from civilization, this is the ideal spot. We love this cottage, the location, and the views. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much!

A Special Time Together
This was an excellent get-away for dear friends! We were thrilled with the homey, inviting atmosphere, well-appointed kitchen, and comfortable beds. The views were wonderful from every window facing the ocean, and the short walk to the beach opened up to a lovely bay. The location was a perfect starting point for exploring the surrounding tourist areas. If we are blessed, we look forward to going back someday when we can get everyone together again.
