Bring the whole family to this historic Grade II Listed thatched cottage, adorned with exposed beams, dating back to 1653 and offering ample space for creating cherished memories! Nestled in the idyllic village of Bosham, this is the perfect setting for a grand gathering with family or friends. Our charming property with exposed beams, exudes a cosy yet spacious ambiance and features its own enclosed garden, welcoming your furry companions with open arms. With convenient access to Goodwood events, nearby historic towns and cities, and the coastline, it serves as an excellent base for exploring the local treasures.

Our beautiful cottage is made up of two areas - the quaint cottage itself and the inviting modern pool room area. Our unique retreat awaits your arrival.

*Cottage*
The inviting downstairs area boasts a spacious, fully-equipped kitchen ideal for families who enjoy cooking together. Complete with an oven, hob, fridge, freezer, and a breakfast bar with two stools, it's perfect for preparing delicious meals. A convenient bathroom with a shower and toilet is just off the kitchen. The adjacent dining room, with a table and six chairs, offers a cosy setting for family meals, and there's an even larger dining area in the pool room for shared gatherings. Step into the charming living room, featuring a delightful cottage atmosphere, a TV, and a comfortable double sofa bed. With its bright, airy ambiance and double aspect windows overlooking the garden, the lounge is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

Upstairs, you'll find two generously sized bedrooms - one featuring a double bed and the other a king-size bed. Additionally, there's a cosy double bedroom that can easily be adapted to a single, catering to your group's specific needs. All the bedrooms are flooded with natural light and offer picturesque views of the garden and pool area. You'll also find a well-appointed bathroom on this floor, complete with a toilet, bath, and shower attachment.

*Pool Room Area*
From the kitchen, there is a hallway containing a utility area with a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board. Ascend the stairs to a spacious bedroom boasting a king-size bed and an ensuite bathroom with a toilet and an electric shower over the bath.

As you continue down the hallway, you'll be greeted by the expansive pool room area, flooded with natural light from the patio doors that open out to the garden. This area features two double sofa beds in the lounge, a TV, and a DVD player. Additionally, there's a dining area with tables and chairs accommodating up to 14 people, as well as a large shower and toilet. This versatile space is perfect for children, teenagers, or a separate family unit to enjoy while the rest of the family occupies the cottage.

Discover the allure of this exquisite property with its expansive and secure garden. Imagine relaxing on the patio with a table, chairs, and umbrella, perfect for hosting summer gatherings. The garden is meticulously tended to every other week by a skilled gardener, and a professional pool maintenance company visits every Thursday throughout the summer. This is the perfect setting for creating unforgettable memories with your loved ones.

Please note there is an outdoor heated swimming pool. Over the summer months it has the cover off. From the 9th September, a hard plastic cover is put over the pool and the pool is not available to guests throughout autumn and winter. It will be available and heated again from the start of the following May.

We absolutely love having dogs as our guests, and we welcome them to stay with us for free! Your furry friends will be treated to dog treats, a water and food bowl, and cosy towels for a post-walk drying session. To ensure everyone's comfort, we kindly ask that you accompany your dogs at all times and keep them off the furniture and beds, allowing them to roam only on tiled or wooden floors. Thank you for understanding, and we can't wait to host you and your four-legged pals!

There is parking at the cottage in a driveway. Free, additional parking can be found on the residential roads which are located at the front of the cottage.

The large, secure garden is a great feature of this beautiful, unique property. There is a table and chairs, with an umbrella, for you to use on the patio area to enjoy those summer evenings and get together with family and friends. The garden is maintained every other week by a gardener.

A short stroll from here will lead you to the charming Anchor Bleu pub, nestled on the harbour walls with picturesque water views. The pub's outdoor seating at the back captures the serene vistas, and the food is absolutely delightful!
Bosham is also home to a lovely church and a spacious green area, perfect for games and picnics, with breathtaking views of the harbour and the Bosham mill stream flowing out to sea. Only a 5 minute drive away, the vineyard tour takes you deep into the vineyard for a totally immersive experience. Then back to their interactive Experience Room to get stuck into more delicious wines or enjoy a meal at their restaurant.


Getting there

It is possible to arrive via train to Bosham, with the station being only a two-minute walk away! The 700 bus also operates between Portsmouth and Chichester, stopping at Bosham.

Train Services:
The nearest railway station (Bosham) is just a short walk from The Old Thatch.
The ticket office is open Monday to Friday 06:10 - 10:25.
Platform 1 (North side) has hourly trains to Fishbourne, Chichester, and Littlehampton during the day, with connections to Arundel, Bognor Regis, Worthing, Brighton, Gatwick Airport and London Victoria.
Platform 2 (South side) has hourly trains to Portsmouth during the day, with connections to the Isle of Wight and Southampton.

Bus Services
The nearest bus stops are just a three-minute walk from The Old Thatch, beyond the White Swan pub.
Stagecoach Coastliner Bus 700 goes both west to Chichester and Bognor Regis (with connections to Worthing and Brighton), and east to Havant and Portsmouth.

The old thatch was lovely , great location and the pool was the one key attribute that kept us all cool , heated to 28 and in the sun it maintained the temperature we were so lucky with the weather 30 degrees and above all week ! Laura who managed property came out with no issues as we couldn’t get Wi-Fi to work , local pub was amazing food The white Swan , 2 minute walk away , location was great not a noisy area even though it was in a built up area , parking for 3 cars on driveway with gates , only comment would like the side gate to be lockable as anyone could walk into the garden and you wouldn’t see them but everything else was great
