Looking for a place to unplug, unwind and enjoy nature, look no further! Reservations are filling up very fast for 2024, book your trip now! The cabin will be decorated for the holidays and for winter! The Bear’s Watch is a log mountain home that sleeps 10 comfortably with 4 bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen. The game room has a couch that can be converted to a queen sized bed (with linens) to sleep 12 in the house total. Powder Horn mountain has great amenities, including a fitness center, game room, community swimming pool (open Memorial Day to Labor Day) and camp ground. Private, two tier deck gives guests plenty of space to enjoy the mountain and forest views and the sounds of nature! Main floor master with ensuite bathroom, laundry, island kitchen, dining, and living room with 2 story stacked stone propane fireplace. Upper level has 3 bedrooms and full bath. Lower level has game room with arcade, basketball game, billards, poker table, chess table and a full bath. Two tier, covered, wrap around, decks with screened porch on lower level and propane grill equipped on upper level.Powder Horn Mountain is a gated community with over 12 miles of hiking trails. Other amenities include tennis / pickle ball court, half basketball court, foot paddle boats, and three lakes that are great for fishing. Disc Golf Course! The 6-hole course is located at the Post Office building on Powder Horn Mountain Road and is fun for all ages. Grab a course map/score card from the bulletin board and tee off in a beautiful wooded setting. For a unique souvenir of your visit to Powder Horn, stop by the POA Office and pick up a custom imprinted disc. Ask about our monthly rates! Also, we provide an active military, veteran, and senior discount! Towels and linens are included. House rules: No house parties please.

Pets are allowed with a $75 additional cleaning fee for each pet. Limit two pets - all pets must be house trained.

Fun trip
Overall we had an amazing time. Communication was great and the house was very homey. Kids had a great time playing pool and basketball. The hot-tub was perfect after a long day of skiing. Highly recommend!

Peaceful mountain home with beautiful views
Our family traveled to NC for Thanksgiving. This home is comfortable and has everything you need for a wonderful family get away. It's located in a quaint Mount neighborhood that has amenities to explore.

Great rental
We really enjoyed this cabin. Very clean. We loved the view, game room and hot tub. The kitchen was well equipped to cook for our big family. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. Regarding Powder Horn: we liked the pool, gym, paddle boats and the creek. If you visit do not miss the campground area. The creek is beautiful. We enjoyed wading and swimming there. The trails in the neighborhood are not as well marked or maintained as we hoped but of course that has nothing to do with the rental. There is a trail map in the cabin which was handy. Overall good times were had by all in our group ranging from ages 6-42.

Great Host Great Home
We really enjoyed our stay at “The Bear’s Watch”. The house was very nice and well equipped for all our needs . Spectacular views off the wrap around porch on both levels (lower level was even screened in). The host was an excellent communicator. There was a lot to do right there on Powder Horn Mountain which allowed us to be able to relax more since we didn’t have to travel to have fun !

Had a wedding to attend in Purlear and this property was a perfect fit for our 6 adult, 3 kids crowd. Loved the porch and ring swing game. Basement had plenty of games for all ages. Kitchen was nicely labeled and organized. We had a good time.

Great get-a-way!
My family and I wanted to go on a short, weekend trip to celebrate an anniversary, a college graduation, and a birthday. This place was exactly what we were looking for! It was clean, had great amenities, and provided plenty of room for our family of six. We stayed at the cabin the entire time due to rainy weather, and it was so relaxing! The owners were awesome in accommodating us with an early check-in and a late check-out, and we are so grateful for that! We would love to stay here again in the future! This home was perfect for our family of 7. We came to do some hiking and were pleasantly surprised to have beautiful hikes right around us! Clean and very well stocked! Beautiful neighborhood and home. Well-maintained and clean. Definitely an upscale property. Be aware the master bedroom is directly below the bunk room with very little noise insulation between. Just be aware. It would not keep us from staying there again. We had a great experience.

Little Cousins’ Easter Introduction 🌷
This was a special Easter weekend. I gathered my sons together for the first time with their little boys to provide a wonderful stage for a first time introduction for these two littles during the Easter holiday. I also invited my best friend and her two granddaughters. The home was beautiful and the outdoor deck areas proved to be perfect way to keep the kids close to us. Great family cabin
We had a fantastic family getaway for a long weekend. Our kids (12 and 9) very much enjoyed the game room and hot tub. The cabin is very clean and spacious and has pretty much everything you need to have a great time and relax. The views out the back of the cabin are absolutely perfect to enjoy a cup of coffee, or a glass of wine, or just to sit and relax.

Very pleased with our wknd stay. Very clean & beautiful view! Everything included except groceries. Hot tub felt amazing & very relaxing. We didn’t have any kids this trip but lots to do with kids at cabin so no need to even leave. It started snowing while we were there so nice little surprise for us to enjoy from the huge wrap around porch.

Wonderful Stay for family
We had a wonderful time, both adults and kids! The downstairs had entertainment for everyone. The views were wonderful. The only bad thing anyone had to say was that our stay was short. One more thing to add, we did have an issue with the smoke detectors going off while we were there and the issue was addressed quickly (within 30 minutes) both times.
