Make your way up the hill and be instantly at ease with the peace and quiet that Sirpa’s Nuuksio Retreat provides with nothing around but lush forest, glistening lakes and miles of wilderness to explore.
Step inside the spacious four bedroom 1960’s barn that has been lovingly updated to create this charming space filled with modern touches and cozy spaces where you can sit and get lost in one of the many books lining the walls.
The living area is framed with artworks and filled with deep relaxing sofas that surround the 4K Apple TV with Netflix, Prime TV, Cable, a selection of DVD’s and a Playstation 4 to keep everyone entertained for hours.
Cook up pancakes in the morning to a hearty three course meal with everything you could expect to find in a well-loved family kitchen. There is a fridge, a freezer, an oven with an induction hob, a microwave, dishwasher and a wide selection of pots, pans, utensils, cooking gadgets and a whole selection of condiments and spices to get you started.
Serve up your meals within the sun-filled conservatory offering almost 360 degree views out to the forest where you can sit and catch up with friends or eat alfresco style outside on the terrace by the fire and catch a glimpse of a woodpecker or even a rare golden eagle circling above.
Within the home there are four cozy bedrooms, each offering comfortable beds topped with soft, quality linen for a restful night’s sleep and their own sparkling en-suite bathrooms along with plenty of space to unpack and make yourself at home.
There are two King Size bedrooms downstairs including the master with a beautiful wood burning fireplace and plenty of wood to keep you warm well into the night. Upstairs is the third bedroom with one kingsize bed and two singles , the perfect retreat for children with shelves packed full of boardgames, books and toys.
No Finnish house in the woods is complete without a sauna and this home offers no exception. Equipped with a traditional wood fired sauna stove, you can sit back and feel the steam cleanse you from the inside out, then afterward, make use of the spacious tiled shower room with a soothing rain shower.
On a warm afternoon, make your way outside to the sparkling heated pool (May - End September) where you can float lazily on your back and watch the treetops sway in the breeze. For something a little more active, there is a pool table and table tennis by the pool area or why not make your way out onto the generous lawn area with football goals and outdoor games.
Pack a picnic and meander through the forest along the marked trail where you will find a beautiful lake with a wonderful place to swim. There is a boat that you are welcome to take out onto the water and explore the area or even catch a fish or two while watching the sun set behind the trees on Ruuhijarv.
Then come back to the house for dinner and cook up your catch in the outdoor kitchen with a huge BBQ and plenty of prep space all while overlooking the forest.
On a cool evening make your way into the traditional firehouse and light up the inviting fireplace as you sit around on the comfortable seating with a drink or two and share stories well into the night as the surrounding forest and terrace light up to create a dynamic display.
Away from the home, guests can experience the many activities that come with the seasons including skiing, sledding, long walks on the frozen Pitkäjärvi, hiking, biking, mountain climbing or just taking some time for yourself and never straying too far from your own secluded slice of paradise.

The pool is only available from 1st May - 30th September.
Please follow the pool rules and maintenance so we can keep the pool clean and in good condition for all our guests.
If you book for more than a week there are a few small extra jobs to take care of the pool. I can send you instructions for this, and it won't take long
