We found the staff very friendly and helpful, and really lovely to speak with. Our stay was made very comfortable and very relaxing, and the food was lovely and service great. I would recommend this lovely quaint hotel to anyone who is travelling that way.

Decent place to stay if on Lizard peninsula.

Pros: Friendly staff. Good menu choice. Easy parking. Good bed linen. Clean bedroom. Quiet location.
Cons: Summer duvets for the warm summer nights. A shelf in the shower cubicle to rest shampoo on. Better sausages on the breakfasts.
Location: A nice rural village setting to explore the Lizard peninsula and the south Cornwall area in general.
I stumbled across this place whilst searching for a room to stay on a sunny August Bank Holiday. This is one of 2 pubs/hotels on the village square and there is adequate free parking right outside. The double room (number 4) was clean and looked out over the churchyard next door. The bed had good quality linen, but the thick duvet wasn't appropriate for the hottest weekend of the year! The bathroom was large and had a modern shower cubicle instead of a bath. Half of the pub is a dedicated dining area whilst the other half is a bar. The menu looked very good but was pricey for a pub, although the quality of the food though looked very good. There was a choice of real ales which were well kept. Most tastes could be catered for from the bar, but the choice wasn't extensive. The breakfast choice was OK and of the standard you would expect for a typical small hotel. All the staff there were very friendly, welcoming and looked like they enjoyed their work. The three figure room rate per night was too high as I've experienced better value in similar Southern Cornish hotels recently. Overall though I would recommend this hotel as it has a nice homely and welcoming feel.
