This historic cottage known as the Alston-Charlotte dates back to the mid 1700's and it is one of ten oldest existing homes in Historic Downtown New Bern. This rare cottage style home is brimming with character and charm. The whimsical backyard is perfect for relaxing complete with stone walls to offer privacy and off street parking. You will be in the heart of thriving Historic Downtown New Bern, a very short walk to shopping, restaurants, nightlife, and more! River tours, museums and historic walking tours await in New Bern or take a short 35 minute drive and see the Emerald Isle.

House is meticulously maintained. Every detail was accounted for, plenty of everything (dishes, cookware, blankets, toiletries, water). The check in was easy and is an easy 5 star review to give. Good feel to the house! Will definitely stay here again

Cute and well done!
The house is perfect for a couple or small family. Amenities are great and the house is in excellent condition. It was everything we were looking for...walkable to downtown and fenced in yard for fur babies. Coffee shop and great restaurant a block away. Would definitely stay here again.

Perfect Storybook Cottage
This restored cottage is very well restored and more importantly while maintaining charm, is modern in execution. Very walkable neighborhood and close to downtown. I parked my car and did not need to use it again until I left. The home is as described and all amenities worked well. The owner is vey easy to work with and welcoming.

First, the home was just as described and it is easy to understand why it has received high reviews from other guests. We can confirm and echo the 👍👍👍👍👍 for this property. Next, it was our 1st trip to New Bern. If you have not visited, give it a try. It is a historical city with a lot of great restaurants and breweries. And now you know where to stay.

This wonderful cottage was everything we were looking for when dropping our children off at Camp. Tasteful and thoughtful decor and amenities. The owners thought of every little detail at this house. We were very comfortable and the furnishings were beautiful. The kitchen was well equipped. The dishwasher is not full size so if you plan to cook a lot bring paper plates. We enjoyed our stay and would rent again!

The hosts thought of everything!
We have stayed in VRBOs for years, and we have never seen such care given to every detail in a home! From the Keurig machine and bottled smart water in the master suite to the meticulously-prepared binder of salient information in the living room, the home was deliberately prepared to be welcoming and comfortable. There were plenty of pillows, towels, and kitchen supplies (which I appreciate so much as someone who has to cook nearly every meal due to food intolerances). The phonograph and records were a nice touch which we all enjoyed! The house itself is charming and beautifully decorated and is situated in the perfect location. The backyard was cozy and inviting. The hosts even supplied white noise machines to add to their guests' comfort. I cannot say enough about this adorable cottage, which is also much more affordable than nearly every VRBO we have every stayed in! Thank you for a lovely stay!

The property was one of the prettiest we have ever visited in our experiences with VRBO. The historic charm of this 1700’s era home has been preserved in the beautiful and modern restoration of the property. The premises was spotless, both inside and out. The decor was beautiful, and the large master bedroom on the upper level of the home is enchanting. The king bed was so comfortable and was supplied with high end linens and the adjacent sitting area was so lovely. The large master bath has a large tiled walk in shower and was wonderful. The kitchen and living room are both located on the main level of the home and has everything you need, including an added bonus of coffee beans, grinder, and a french press. The kitchen is so well designed and has been supplied with first class amenities and decor. The living room is cozy and the fireplace with remote controlled logs is also so cozy and relaxing. The property is so convenient to restaurants and shopping, and the riverwalk and Tryon Palace is just a short walk away. We would highly recommend this home away from home for any couple looking for a fairytale escape!

We have stayed at several VROBs and this is definitely among our favorites. Everything about the house and the yard was perfect! The host had thought of everything that provide convenience, entertainment, relaxation and comfort. The only complaint was location as it was a little further walk to the shops and restaurants than we were expecting. However, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others.

Clough Christmas vacation
Went down to New Bern from Pgh to spend Christmas holiday. We have been thinking of moving to New Bern for a while and after this visit I hope to be able to do that really soon. Beautiful friendly town and very accessible to do anything. The house was so charming and comfortable- and well stocked with everything you need for your stay. Very short ( 2 min walk) into town so we walked everywhere- our car never left the driveway. I will definitely come back,- the area behind us was a bit noisy though- but I brought my noise machine so it masked a lot of the noise. Beautiful house and enjoyed the backyard and deck. Thank you.
