La Maison Byrnes - Garden District Classique Greek Revival Accueil

Home Classic Garden District néo-grec construit en 1898, La Maison Byrnes a tous les détails architecturaux classiques - colonnes doriques cannelées dans une double galerie, Grape leaf et l'arc frise, petit fronton, triglyphe entablement avec grand moulage dentaire. Inside sont 13 pieds plafonds, de grandes fenêtres, des médaillons de plâtre, portes de poche géants, etc .; rénové et mis à jour avec toutes les commodités modernes.

En plus de la grande architecture, l'emplacement ne peut tout simplement pas être battu. Le Utne lecteur listé le Lower Garden District # 1 sur leur liste des quartiers les plus branchés de la US. Entouré de restaurants, bars, magasins d'antiquités et des boutiques uniques, vous trouverez ce soit un quartier plus intéressant. PLUS, un bloc du tramway Saint Charles Ave, et vous êtes un court trajet à l'Warehouse District, quartier français, Canal Street, le River Walk, Mid-City, City Park, musées, universités, Audubon Park - tout était super à propos de New Orléans. Ah oui, ai-je mentionné que les défilés de Mardi Gras passent un pâté de maisons sur la rue Charles Ave.?

Ce bâtiment historique était à la maison à 3 générations d'hommes accomplis de la famille Byrnes. Col. William H. Byrnes est né en Irlande en l'an 1845. Il est venu avec ses parents à l'Amérique quand un garçon, et, finalement, est monté à la présidence de l'Hibernia Fire Insurance Co. Cinq gouverneurs successifs de l'Etat de la Louisiane lui ont donné le grade de colonel sur leurs états-majors. William H. Byrnes, Jr., était un sénateur de Louisiane qui a introduit une législation établissant l'Université Loyola de la Nouvelle-Orléans. William H. Byrnes, III, était le juge en chef de la 4e Circuit Court d'appel de la Louisiane.

The extended family and their 1's celebrated our youngest's 21st Birthday and New Years together. Ages 21-83!Granted, the 83 year old Matriarch only navigated the stairs to the 3rd floor once, but she made it!

I came to Nawlins' to celebrate my 70th. Everything about the trip was great, including the Byrnes house. The location is convenient, the neighborhood seems safe, and the house is well equiped and spacious with a rich history. I'd gladly return.

Perfect New Orleans experience
Beautiful old home that the pictures in the listing just doesn’t do justice to being there live. Home is much bigger in real life. Comfortable with plenty of room. But best of all was walking one block to the St Charles streetcar that will take you quickly downtown or if you walk across St Charles to the Pontchartrain hotel and go to the Hot Tin bar on the 14th floor, you can enjoy a panoramic view of downtown while sipping on your favorite drink.

Family Thanksgiving in New Orleans
This was the first time visiting for 6 out of 7 of us, ranging in age from 21-57. We are from San Francisco, so we loved the architecture, and really appreciated the gorgeous details in the house. It was a great location for us, as we walked, tram’d, or Uber’d all over the city. We loved the house— Comfortable beds, plenty of hot water, and an amazing location.

Beautiful home in great location
This is more of a 4.75 place. The home is beautiful with chandeliers and high ceilings. It’s located easy walking distance to the St Charles street car. Perfect for getting around the city. The only issues are with a beautiful older house come a few “old house” problems. Nothing significant though. And the top floor is a little difficult to get to if you have any mobility problems. But I wouldn’t let that stop you from staying in this great house. Definitely recommend!!

Beautiful historic home in a great location. Big well-stocked kitchen and comfortable gathering spaces. As other reviewers noted, there is exposed ceiling in one of the bedrooms, and the house could use some instructions/ labels for the alarm, TV, even some of the lights. AC worked great, and gated parking was a plus.

the greek revival is a gem. spent 3 nights in the house with six of my friends. all loved it. Maintaining such an old house with modern amenities is no joke and must not be cheap either. Hats off to the owner. House has abundance of everything you need. towels, spices, tea, coffee, pillows etc etc

Best of Both Worlds
The Byrnes House was the perfect stay for our family in New Orleans. The house is located in the Garden District full of beautiful homes and great restaurants. It was fun to explore this area and stay in a clean quiet area for our family. Then when we were ready to hit the busy French Quarter, it was less than a 10 minute drive or a quick hop on the trolley to be in the middle of it all. The home was well furnished and so spacious as well as generous with its supply of sundry items. Dave the manager was a wonderful host. He had the home ready which included a baby crib and baby gates for the stairs. We have stayed in many towns in many homes and this home is one of our new favorites!

Family Adventure Tour
The Byrnes House was the perfect accommodation for our family of eight in the Lower Garden district. Plenty of room, modern, well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms. One block from the St Charles streetcar, which took us right down to the French Quarte Walked all over the area - enjoyed heritage homes, great restaurants. Very safe. Some traffic at peak times, but otherwise very quiet.

Such a fun house
This house brought all the pleasant quirks typical to New Orleans. It's a very spacious and convenient place that I would love to stay at again! The host was very generous in letting us check out at our own leisure. My friends and I had a wonderful jazz fest experience staying there!

A Lower Garden District Aging Beauty
This is a lovely property in a great area of the Lower Garden District. The home could use a bit of maintenance and some upgrades to it. Nothing that should prohibit a comfortable stay but would add to the overall experience. Also, some more information provided onsite such as tv controls, alarm controls etc would be appreciated.

I stayed at this house with a group of 8 for a bachelorette party and it did not disappoint. The pictures do not do the house justice- it is so much larger and beautiful in person. The location was perfect. David was such an accommodating and communicative host, and the house was stocked with linens and even extra toiletries in case we forgot anything. Aside from some mold on a shower curtain upstairs, the house was clean and we would love to stay again someday. Thank you so much!

50th Bday and Irish Channel Parade
We picked this property due to its close proximity to the Irish Channel Parade route during St. Patrick's Day weekend. We were also celebrating a 50th birthday party so we were going to have friends popping in an out, as well as attending the parade. David's house was a perfect backdrop to a perfect weekend. It oozes old world New Orleans charm. The location was perfect for walking to St. Charles Street and Magazine with no shortage of places to eat and drink. The house itself was made for entertaining with plenty of space downstairs with two gathering rooms and a decent sized kitchen and eating area. High ceilings really open up the space. The beds were very comfortable. The grand balconies provided plenty of relaxing moments people watching on the streets. We had one very small issue related to the internet, and David was quick to come out and correct the issue. We will definitely look to stay here again. JP

Wonderful location and access
This home is a delightful taste of living in the historic Garden District and was very accessible to the Quarter, Downtown, Uptown sites and I-10. Magazine street restaurants and shopping just a 5 minute walk, as well as other stately GD homes. My favorites were the very high ceilings, chandeliers, tall windows and original polished wood floors. A very well equipped and clean home.

Grand Home in Garden District.
Great Historical Home in the Garden District. Close to great shopping and restaurants on Magazine Street. House is grand and charming. Does need some TLC (scuffs and chips in paint; cracked transom window over front door; plaster falling off ceiling in middle upstairs bedroom). Besides these things we loved staying at the house. It accommodated 10 people easily.
