“The Almost” A dog friendly, beach getaway

“The Almost” is a bright and comfy house with every amenity from the kitchen to the yard. Relax and enjoy the beach, just a six minute walk. Then relax on the screened porch for dinner. The backyard is fully fenced to keep the dogs safe. Everything is here from the grill to the towels. Bring your toothbrush, shampoo, and come enjoy.

There are beach chairs, beach tent, fishing gear, boogie boards, coolers and many other items for your use in the shed. There is a private outdoor shower to get the sand off. There are usually two to five bikes in the shed. There are games, cards, guitar, and TV's in all the bedrooms and living room. All televisions have access to regular channels and streaming services. There is a wire dog kennel and baby gate for your use. There is a propane grill and charcoal grill.

Everything, and I mean everything, is a short walk away in this quiet neighborhood. There are restaurants, bars, grocery store, ice cream, liquor store, fishing pier, boat ramp, and of course THE BEACH.

There is no cleaning, pet, or linen fee. We only ask that barking outside is kept down when the pooches are outside.

Our February Stay at The Almost
We had an awesome stay at this welcoming, clean, and family-like home! From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home in a space that’s both charming and thoughtfully maintained. The location couldn’t be better—just a 10-15 minute walk or short drive to the beach and conveniently close to a vibrant main strip filled with coffee shops, restaurants, and various stores. Having a Publix and Dollar General nearby made grabbing any last-minute essentials a breeze. We highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a perfect blend of comfort and convenience. Five stars!

Our experience was perfect, the location is incredible. Convenient to anything you need and want, including the beach. More Than Almost
The Almost wasn't just almost...it was perfect! We couldnt be happier with our stay. The house was very clean, stocked with everything you could ever need, in a great location and the host was so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. I plan on renting again this summer.

We were in Oak Island to check on a house we are building. The Almost was the perfect place for us to stay. The location is great with Publix just down the street. The house was clean and the best equipped home we have ever stayed in. We are disappointed it is not available for our next trip.in.

Best Getaway
We had a great week , the house was very nice , clean, great neighborhood, felt totally safe. A short walk to everything including the beach access. We had our little puppy that enjoyed the fenced in backyard. Will recommend “The Almost” to all and we would love to stay there next time we go to Southport.

This property left nothing to be desired It is a perfect home in a perfect location. The whole house was perfectly clean and very well stocked. The house is located within walking distance to everything. My little dog loved the fully fenced in back yard.

Wonderful Getaway
We came down to get out of Ohio for a few days and we picked the best little retreat on Oak Island!!! The host was super helpful and the house was perfect for all of us. Perfect for the pups and the patio was awesome for doing puzzles every night. Located in the middle of the island, we could get to everything we wanted to do! Not to mention, our host had every item needed for a fun filled stay - beach chairs, games, golf clubs, etc. Can’t wait to come back next year!!!

Great stay and baby-friendly!
We had a wonderful time and it was a perfect house with an 8 month old!! Very baby-friendly and super quick and easy to make the living area a safe space. Quick walk or drive to the beach, great restaurants, wonderful neighborhood for stroller walks and tons of spots (including OKI Scoop Shop which has the most amazing donuts we’ve ever had) in walking distance. Kitchen is well stocked, beds are super comfy, the fenced in yard is great for dogs, and having laundry is a huge plus! Highly recommend!

This house truly has everything you need for a relaxing beach trip. It was very clean and comfortable and the fenced yard made traveling with our dogs incredibly easy. This is now our favorite place on Oak Island and we plan to return ASAP!

No detail left out in this home. Easy self check-in process (the key box was a little clumsy to open but we got it). Quiet neighborhood. About three blocks of walking to the beach. The beds were made, towels hung, hand soaps ready to use, toilet paper be paper towels stocked. Nice kitchen appliances and a great selection of dishes and utensils. Light switches labeled. Comfy mattress with soft sheets. The outdoor shower and hose were very helpful. Private feel to the yard even with close neighbors. A nice screened porch to enjoy the weather without the mosquitoes. Lovely stay overall and can’t wait to return!

This house was in a great location. The host was very responsive. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need to cook with. Paper products,, shampoo, laundry detergent, soap all provided. Many spices also supplied. The house smelled so clean when we arrived! I would highly recommend staying here.

Great Place and Value
The property was great for the trip to Oak Island. It was me, my 2 kids, my parents and our dog. The fenced in yard, outdoor shower, and screened porch were fantastic. The UNO and deck of cards were great and having all the beach items was very helpful. I don’t think Incould find a better place for the cost.
