Escape to this cosy mountain cottage 900 meters above Prayols in the French Pyrenees! Perfect for family getaways, friend reunions, or romantic outings, this secluded retreat lets you trade high heels for hiking shoes, let children play freely and just leave the stresses of daily life behind. Adjacent to the hosts’ family homestead with an organic mushroom farm in the making, enjoy total privacy with a separate entrance and garden. Once a small barn built in 1850, it now offers modern comforts. To ensure you have a comfortable start, the house is already stocked with some coffee, tea, and essential supplies. Warm up by the wood fire, and enjoy the equipped kitchenette with a fridge, oven, toaster, kettle, coffee maker ( both L'Or espresso capsules and a filter system), and microwave. With board games, Netflix, and internet, you can stay entertained and connected. The cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms with versatile zip-and-link beds, perfect for couples, friends, and families. No need to overpack for the kids—we’ve got baby essentials covered. The property includes a renovated shower, separate toilet, linen, towels, essential toiletries, hair dryer, and an iron. Your car should handle the gravel road just fine unless it's super low clearance. Check-in is at 4pm, check-out at 11 am. Smoking is a no-go indoors, but free parking is available. There's a washing machine, and well-behaved pets are welcome with a refundable deposit of 300 euros and with a solemn promise to not let them on the couch or beds, nor scratch the doors or let them chase the neighbouring chickens around. Just a 15-minute down drive to Foix, you’ll find all amenities such supermarkets, restaurants, summer events and the weekly market. The region is rich in history with prehistoric caves, medieval sites, and the famous Montségur reminding of the last stand of the Cathars. On Prat d’Albis mountain itself, you can enjoy hiking, cycling, or paragliding. In summer, expect a few curious cows or horses on the road up, and the first to welcome you will probably be the sheep in the neighbouring farmer’s fields. Gather chestnuts and listen to the deer’s slab in autumn. Watch out for the shy wildlife like deer, wild boar, and falcons. August nights are perfect for stargazing after a BBQ in your private garden, before the sound of the owls call you to bed. And the right time of winter, sleigh down the trafficless road ! Experience the magic of the French Pyrenees!
