We booked the Junior Suite in this 4 star hotel as a treat because it included a large bath and the hotel had a rooftop restaurant. Upon arrival, we were advised to enter via the back entrance by a hotel staff member and no help was offered to carry our cases up the steep stairs to reception. The main entrance also inc. steep stairs. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and advised us to leave our luggage in a communal waiting room downstairs, as check-in was not until 3pm. Our luggage was not securely locked away. Once in the room we noticed the dirty, sticky head/back rest attached to the bath and were very disappointed. Everything was grubby, dusty or sticky - surfaces, blinds, floors, shower inc. mould. The shaving mirror glass was broken, the tissue box empty & not even a bottle of water was offered in the room. Several lights didn’t work, there were just two sockets - one USB by the bed & a plug by the desk. The rooftop bar/restaurant did not exist and there was no lighting on the 4th floor exterior which inc. a smoking area beside several metal gas tanks! The wellness centre was closed.
I complained to the manager about the dirty bath and room that evening, who told me he would come to look at it shortly - he never came. This hotel is a travesty. It doesn’t have many the facilities/services listed on the hotels.com site. How it has a 4 star rating beggars belief. We expect a partial refund and request that hotels.com advises us how we obtain this.
