Villa Montelisi, With The most Unique View On Siena (6km)

The Villa belongs to Tenuta Larnianone, a family run wine estate of 340 acres, that counts 8 different Villas and Apartments surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, at 6 km from Siena. The Estate is completely immersed in the countryside (you need a car to get to the grocery!) but it's only 13' far from the closest supermarket and about 20' to Siena's city center.
What to expect:
Once a refuge for travelers and pilgrims along the Via Francigena, Montelisi is now a enchanting Villa surrounded by olive tree. It consists of three floors and overlooks the surrounding hills, providing beautiful views from each window and from the balcony. Montelisi can accommodate 8 people. If needed 2 beds for children under the age of 12 can be added. The villa has 4 bedrooms with their own bathroom, a large living room with a pool table, a living room with a large fireplace, and a large kitchen. The inner courtyard is an ideal space to prepare charming dinners with a breathtaking view on the two towers of Siena: the tower of “Mangia” and Siena's Cathedral tower. Guests have access to a shared swimming pool about 800 m away (inside the property).
FAQ:
There is no air conditioning but fans in all the rooms.
Heating cost is included.
Renting a car is highly recommended (you can't go shopping on foot from the estate!)

In Siena there is no Uber service and taxis are not always available (better to book them in advance).

The swimming pool is guaranteed from 1st of May to 30th September; it's open from 8AM to 8PM

Only the guests of the Estate are allowed to enjoy the shared swimming pool spaces. Each unit has got its area, with sunbeds and sun umbrella. The pool IS NOT HEATED.

The organization of any event involves extra costs to be defined when booking with the property.

The kitchen is equipped with stove, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine (NESPRESSO), pots, salt / pepper and our extra virgin olive oil. We provide plastic bags, dishwasher tablets, laundry soaps and fabric softener to our guests, as well as some courtesy coffee pods.

The bathrooms have hairdryers and at the entrance we provide a small welcome kit with shower shampoo in paper sachets.

It is possible to request a basic shopping to be found on the arrival, at an extra cost of 50 euros.

Who will you meet and what do to:

The owners are at your disposal for any information, especially regarding restaurants and activities, or to solve any problems efficiently if needed. During your stay it is possible to organize Palio experiences (2nd of July and 16th of August), dinners in Villa, bike tours, city and surrounding tours, horse riding through the Estate, truffle hunting and of course the visit to the cellar where Lorenzo, will organize the wine an olive oil tasting. All the information to book these activities (and more!) are provided in the Guestbook, once made the reservation.

The Estate is located in a strategic position:

- 20 minutes far from Siena's city center, a go-kart circuit, the thermal baths at Rapolano Terme, an alpaca farm, an adventure park for kids, and the artistic site Parco Sculture del Chianti;
- about one hour away from San Gimignano (where to taste the best ice cream of the world at Dondoli's), Florence, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza (the famous cheese city of Tuscany), Volterra and Panzano in Chianti (where is located the most famous butcher of the Chianti, Dario Cecchini)
- about two hours far from Assisi, Rome, Pisa, Lucca and seaside famous places like Forte de' Marmi and Argentario's peninsula.

Magnifique villa avec vue panoramique sur Sienne et sa campagne
La villa Montelisi est une très belle maison de campagne qui se trouve au sommet d’un vaste domaine agricole. Spacieuse et confortable cette villa est idéale pour les familles nombreuses ou groupes d’amis qui souhaitent passer un agréable séjour ensemble. Dotée d’un panorama exceptionnel sur la campagne Toscane, la villa se trouve à quelques kilomètres du centre de Sienne. La position géographique est idéale pour découvrir Sienne et les merveilles de la Toscane. Un grand merci à Anna pour son accueil et sa disponibilité.

Just Perfect.
Villa Montelisi is now part of our family history. Everything about our stay was wonderful. Our host Lavinia made check in easy even though we arrived late. The villa with its old world charm, high ceilings, and amazing views overwhelmed us. We loved waking up to a beautiful painting of the Tuscan countryside, the large windows, balconies and patios enhanced the view, making us feel like we were in a movie. The kitchen had all the modern conveniences, so making breakfast or a late night snack was easy. The property is only a 20 minute drive from the heart is Siena and only an hour from sites like Montepulciano, Arezzo, and Cortona. Lavinia’s restaurant recommendations did not disappoint. We enjoyed every place we tried. But my family especially loved our time together at the property. Playing pool in the downstairs sitting area, ping pong in the backyard overlooking the grapevines, and walking the property gave us precious time to just laugh and talk. I will never forget this place. It made our 30th anniversary celebration a lifelong memory.

An exceptional Villa outside Siena, perfect for a small group of friends or family.
The Villa is in a beautiful setting, with views of the Tuscan countryside, as well as of Siena in the distance. The rooms were very comfortable, all with bathrooms, the whole place spotless, and the kitchen very well equipped. Perfect for a family or group of friends. One of the highlights of our trip was returning to Villa Montelisi at the end of the day. Wish we could have stayed longer!

MAGICAL Family Trip to Siena
My family had an incredible stay with Lavinia & Lorenzo in their Villa Montelisi with beautiful views of their 300 acre property. They took care of us like family, offered perfect recommendations and ensured at every point of the trip that each one of our family members were taken care of. It’s hard to describe in word the beauty od this place. The property has vineyards, olive orchards, flowers, and a series of villas with Italian cypress lined driveways and ancient villas that have been lovingly restored to modernity. We stayed in Montelisi which had stunning views of Siena and the surrounding landscape. The walls of this villa were originally built in rhe 13th century! It provided a perfect jumping off point to visit Siena (15-20 min), San Gimignano (55 min), Cortona (55 min), Montepulciano (55 min), Pienza (55 min), Montegiorri (35 min), Florence (60 min). If you want to discover Tuscany, this is the perfect jumping off point. Be sure to have a wine tasting with Lorenzo, the wine he produced is some of the best we tasted on our trip! Especially fond of the 100% Sangiovese from the 50 year old estate vines. The olive oil is arguably the very best I’ve ever had, we enjoyed it every day and left with a case of 12 bottles to share with friends and family. Don’t go here with our visiting their butcher - visiting this place is an experience in itself! Their restaurant recommendations were on point, not tourist places, but genuine Osterias filled with locals. I gauge my trips on my desire to come home and the longer I stayed here the longer I wanted to stay. We will definitely come back and I can’t stress how important the human element is here - Lavinia and Lorenzo were AWESOME! We are eternally grateful for their hospitality and for creating a place where an Italian dream vacation comes true. 10 days and nights was not enough!

A mixture of enjoying the countryside in a luxurious house
1. Spacious inside and outside for a comfortable stay 2. Location surrounded by vineyards with a view of Siena just a few kilometers away 3. The location close to Siena makes this a perfect base if you plan to visit all those fascinating hilltop towns of Tuscany that surround Siena in just one hour's drive distance. A Magical Forever Experience
7 friends met her from USA for a marvelous week. Lavinia was outstanding to get us settled. Lorenzo gave a fun wine tasting. The views, sunsets are beyond any photo can express. It is away from Siena so get a car or arrange a driver. We also had 2 dinners cooked at the villa during our stay- quite the experience from Chef Roddy and worth every penny.

A stay to remember in La Toscana - Montelisi
We just ended a wonderful and memorable 9 day stay at Montelisi celebrating my husbands 60th birthday and as a result can highly recommend this Villa as well as the other options in the same area of the Tenuta Larniano. Lavinia our host was not only friendly and timely in her replies but also efficient. The tips and information offered was very helpful and on the spot - from restaurants, the butcher, horseriding and more. The estates wines were well worth trying and our group enjoyed them as we did walking the surrounding vineyards. The setting is magical - a true feeling of La Toscana. The Villa itself : very comfotable beds, great showers and a fully equipped and functional kitchen a key element for our foodie group who enjoyed cooking at home as well. The outdoor courtyard was the ideal setting for "apero" and a BBQ of delicious cuts from the Butcher Allesio & Ricardo. A horseride with Julio around the area was fun and picturesque. All in all a wonderful Villa in La Toscana experience - we will be back I hope and recommend to friends and family ! Grazie Mil

We spent a relaxing five days at the Montelisi Villa enjoying a breathtaking view while sipping rose from the family winery. It was the perfect home base for exploring Tuscany! This property met or exceeded all of our expectations. Our family of 8 could not have had a better experience and the view and location is breath-taking. If you want a true countryside Tuscan experience away from people and noise, this is the place. It is also convenient to Siena for necessities for a short drive as needed. WOW.....Amazing place
We had a great time during our week stay. The house was perfect for us, clean, well stocked, and you cannot beat those views - simply amazing. At first, the drive in on the dirt road was a little daunting but after a couple of times, it was no big deal. Our hosts were amazing and the fact that they stocked the house with "for purchase" wines from their estate made it even more special. We also loved our wine tour of the estate so Thank you Lorenzo and we're sorry if we took up too much of your time but appreciate your patience with us. Your wine was terrific! Would stay there again and highly recommed!

We had a wonderful time. Beautiful villa, well equipped and gracious hosts. We had fantastic recommendations from Lavinia. The restaurants were great, and the sightseeing recommendations were enjoyed. The walk through the olive groves and vineyards with Lorenzo, meeting the winemaker, watching the grapes coming from the field and the grapes going into the fermentation process was memorable. The wine tasting experience was perfect, amazing views, entertaining host, and of course the wine. This will stick with us when we sip the wine from Tenuta Larnianone when we are back in the States.

This place is magical! We loved every moment ! The home was spacious, clean, inviting and the the grounds are suburb! We had a lovely week at the villa. 4 couples finishing a tour of Italy with a relaxing time at your villa. We followed many of your suggestions on day trips and spent evenings watching the sunsets over Sienna sipping wine on the veranda. Stunning Views!
We enjoyed a four-night stay at Villa Montelissi. The views are everything we wanted and more! Simply stunning to be in any room of the house and look outside! Our favorite spot was the back patio area. The drive to the villa is a little treacherous, but well worth it for the perfect escape from it all. The villa was very comfortable and the architecture is simply beautiful as it brings you back in time. Paola and Ana cooked a beautiful meal for us; paired with a bottle of wine we purchased from the vineyard. Wonderful stay!

Beautiful villa on a gorgeous vineyard
We stayed at the villa “Montelisi”, a perfectly appointed Italian Villa in the Tuscan countryside situate just a short drive from the center of Sienna. The out door covered patio offered fantastic day and night views of the picturesque city while overlooking a panoramic, working farm. The hosts were very friendly, immensely helpful and very accommodating. We were even given a tour and rich history of the farm and wine making operation which was a very unique and unexpected bonus curious stay. Not only is the property very well situated to Sienna as well as any supplies you may need durning your stay, the location is ideal as a jumping off point for traveling to a majority of the most popular regions/towns located throughout the Tuscany region. This property really offered a taste of what it is like to indulge in the everyday real life of being a Tuscan winemaker while offering all the luxury and relaxation one could ask for in country getaway. You can’t go wrong booking a stay at Tenuta Larnianone!

A perfect stay in every way! Absolutely amazing.
My family and a friends family were fortunate to be able to stay for an extended time in this beautiful villa. I can not say enough nice things about Tullio and Paola, they are special people and Montelisi is an incredible place. The check - in process is very simple, Tullio and Paola provide a thorough and informative walkthrough of the property so we knew exactly where everything was and answered any questions we may have had. They were patient, kind and very accommodating. The villa is more than spacious, we had two families with five children between us and there was more than enough room for everyone. We loved the way the home was decorated, with local touches throughout. The kitchen is fantastic, our two families had breakfast in there every morning, cooked multiple dinners with plenty of room for all of us while preparing and eating. The kitchen is well appointed with everything needed to make wonderful meals. The terrace and garden as you can see from the photos is spectacular. Every night we watched the sunset and then stayed out on the lounges to watch the stars while drinking the wine made right on site. It's truly magical. Siena is a short 10/15 minutes away which was perfect - as we were able to explore the city on multiple occasions and times and didn't feel the need to rush given the close proximity. There is a market and butcher just down the road which made food replenishment incredibly convenient. Lastly, as mentioned above, Paola and Tullio are exceptional hosts and people. They gave us a great tour of the property, told us all about the wines and the history of the house and surrounding property, gave us fantastic recommendations of restaurants and nearby towns to explore. Anything we needed or questions we had along the way were responded to within minutes. So fun - we can't wait to go back.

Tuscan Perfection
The villa, views and owners are everything we could ever have dreamt. We took our three children for over a week. The views of the Tuscan countryside and the Siena towers from high atop a hill are stunning. The villa is flanked by an olive grove on one side and vineyard in the other - and the Chianti and olive oil produced by the owners is magnificent. We cannot wait to return. I agree will all of the reviews. My children loved the woods, the creek and the pool as well. Thus was the perfect home base to explore the reason (though we never wanted to leave the house). Tulip and Paola even gave us tours of the property and arranged for a sitter. My only fear is that all of these amazing reviews will make it increasingly difficult to rebook.

Retiring and moving in with Tullio
The property was genuinely idyllic in every detail, and provided the perfect week long stay for our group of 3 couples in the country side of Italy. (The property can definitely comfortably fit 4 couples.)The house is amazingly stocked with cooking needs and of course wine. Tullio was beyond helpful and was only a text away. One day we were sipping wine on the patio overlooking Siena in the distance and was down to the last bottle of their Chianti 2016. I texted Tullio how wonderful if we’d have more, and before I even took my next sip, he hand delivered another case to our door step. I don’t know how life can be more perfect. We’re definitely coming back and next time we might not find the strength to leave.
