Sapphire Beach - Luxury beach side split level self catering apartment

One of only 58 residences in the Sapphire Beach complex, Amikka is a duplex apartment of 1630 sq ft, situated right on Dover Beach on Barbados’ South West coast. Downstairs the apartment comprises a double bedroom with king sized bed, en-suite shower room, washer drier and plentiful storage space. Sliding doors open onto your own patio and onto one of Sapphire Beach’s two private fresh water swimming pools with gated access directly onto Dover Beach. Upstairs there is a further double bedroom with king sized bed (rear facing) and en-suite bathroom, plentiful storage, fully fitted and well equipped kitchen, spacious living area leading onto a large covered balcony. Balcony has a six seat table for al fresco dining, whilst the double arch windows give you the opportunity to dine in privacy. The balcony is south facing and from here you will see fantastic sunsets over the Caribbean Sea. The apartment comes with TV, iPod dock, air-con in both bedrooms & lounge. Sapphire Beach has a private gym.


The local beach: our family has been lucky enough to be holidaying in Barbados for a good number of years. So we knew that one of the critical factors for us when we decided to purchase a property on island was the quality of the beach and the safety of the water. We know from experience that there are many beautiful properties on island but the beaches and sea around them can be difficult for young or inexperienced or unsteady swimmers and we wanted to ensure that our whole family, every generation, could enjoy their time together all day. Dover Beach is beautiful but also gently shelving and with much calmer water than even the immediately adjacent beach which we have struggled to swim from. It is the choice of local families at weekends for good reason!

The island: At just 21 miles long and 14 miles wide, Barbados rivals destinations several times its size. Surrounded by over 70 miles of white sand beaches distinguished as some of the finest in the Caribbean, the island has long attracted visitors to its shores. With a beautiful landscape dotted by pristine golf courses, polo fields and elegant estates, world-class restaurants, vibrant night life and an exciting social calendar of cultural, music and sporting events, Barbados is truly an island paradise.

The climate: Just outside the main hurricane belt, the island enjoys year-round sunshine, cooling north-east trade winds and just enough rainfall to maintain its lush tropical gardens, gullies and rolling green fields of sugar cane.

The people: Perhaps the island’s greatest asset is the warmth of its people. Barbadians are proud of their home and welcome visitors with open arms, making them feel as if they have lived next door all their life. We welcome you to experience the island’s unique culture and get a feel of what it truly means to be ‘Bajan’.

Amazing property for 2 couples
We had a fantastic week with our group of 2 couples and the property is perfect for that with 2 huge double bedroom suites. The apartment was really well equipped, especially the kitchen. Location couldn't have been better in the heart of St Lawrence gap. We loved the split level with direct access to the pool from the ground floor and an amazing view of the sea from the massive first floor balcony. Thanks to the hosts for providing such a great apartment and the excellent communication from them on the run up to our stay.

This property ticks all of our boxes. Clean, modern, comfortable. I believe that every amenity has been thought of. Including a fridge with ice maker and water dispenser, beach towels, drink cooler, pots and pans, quality bedding and towels and more. Yet again another excellent stay at Mike and Andrea’s lovely apartment. Great property with direct access to a pool and the beach. The lively evening attractions of St Lawrence Gap are a 10-15 minute stroll away. Check in check out was very easy. Great communication as always from Mike and Andrea. Dover beach is one of the best on the island IMHO. If you need a reliable driver call Jamal on +1 (246) 833-6180. He’s professional, punctual and knowledgeable (as well as great company). Great stay on the Gap
This property is perfect. The pool is right outside the door. The beach is just outside the pool area. There are plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas for rent on the beach. The sand on the beach is soft and does not get hot under your feet. The view of the pool and ocean from the balcony is fabulous. The condo was very clean and it has a great layout of 1 bedroom and bath downstairs and 1 bedroom and bath upstairs by the living room and kitchen. There were many great restaurants in walking distance. My parents and my husband and I loved our stay here and enjoyed the island.

Perfect spot!!
Great experience staying at Sapphire beach for my second time! The pool and the ocean being right in front of you is perfect for beach lovers and pool side dwellers alike! Lots of amenities close by. Only negative would be is the roasters crowing at 4:00 am but it does become kind of comical. Hope to visit sometime again soon!

Great first time to Barbados.
I believe we had one of the best condo units in the building. Beach was great. Saw 2 Sea turtles swimming. Lots of good variety of restaurants within walking distance. Will definitely recommend this condo building to anyone looking about vacationing in Barbados. I hope to be back.

This condo is in an excellent location. There are multiple restaurants and bars within walking distance. From the bottom floor bedroom, you walk directly out to the pool. From the top floor, you have a beautiful view of the ocean directly in front of you from the balcony. The condo is extremely clean and has everything you could possibly need in kitchen utensils and appliances. There are several taxis close by willing to take you anywhere on the island. We did the Mount Gay Rum tour, and a tour of the island. It is a beautiful country and very safe. The property manager checked in with us twice during the week to make sure everything was going smoothly. I would highly recommend this condo for two couples, or a family of four.

Absolutely stunning
We’re just enjoying our last morning on the balcony before we leave and it’s been joyous! The apartment is stunning. Two lovely big, comfy bedrooms with en-suite, a much used laundry room and a great living space. The kitchen is very well equipped and we’ve spent many lazy lunches on the balcony and fun evenings playing the games provided after we’ve been out for dinner. I can’t say enough positive things about this place….. we will be back!

Amazing place!
We spent 4 wonderful nights at Sapphire and enjoyed every moment of the experience. The condo is gorgeous, spacious, clean, and all amenities have been thoughtfully included. The beach is steps away and the pools are warm and inviting. Restaurants and shops are all within walking distance and you have safe, free parking if you rent a car. Overall, this was a perfect getaway and we will be returning.

We have visited Barbados numerous times throughout the years, mostly staying in All inclusive hotels. I think our all inclusive days are over, we had such a wonderful time staying at Ammika! The cleanliness, the view, the beach.. ( best beach in BGI!!) the list is endless. Mike & Andrea were fantastic from the first time I contacted them. Keisha was also fabulous always there if & when we needed her. Couples break
Excellent property perfect for two couples, plenty of space and really good outdoor areas. Pool area is very nice and direct access to a lovely beach. Location is ideal with variety of bars, restaurants and shops within walking distance. Mike & Andrea were helpful and considerate from the moment of booking as was Keisha (property manager). A little slice of paradise on Dover Beach
Sapphire Beach apartments offers the best location, facilities and proximity to everything you could want to enjoy your stay in Barbados. Angela and Mike are the perfect hosts - super responsive, friendly and understanding and their apartment is perfectly placed in the block. We been to Barbados on several family holidays and keep returning to this slice of paradise. Can’t recommend it more highly. You won’t be disappointed!

Location is the best ever, easy walking to restaurants & bars, right on the ocean, two pools outside your patio door. Excellent place to stay
This two-level condo unit is one of a few two bedroom units in what is considered to be the best building in this part of Barbados. The unit and the overall building are well maintained with on site security and management to answer questions. The lower level includes a king bedroom, bath and laundry room opening onto the pool, while the upper level features a king bedroom, bath, kitchen, living area and balcony overlooking the pool and beach. The condo is a very short walk into St. Lawrence Gap, where there are numerous restaurants and bars. The unit is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The owners communicate very well and thoughtfully provide a welcome supply of fruit, beer, milk, tea and coffee. There are two small convenience stores within five minutes and two supermarkets about 20 minutes away by foot. Taxis are readily available throughout the area. The beach is one of the best on the island — soft sand, no broken shells or coral and gentle surf. The beach is public (as are all beaches in Barbados) and you can arrange to to rent lounge chairs and umbrellas. This was my first experience using VRBO and I could not have been more pleased.

Beautiful spacious and comfortable
Best location we have stayed in Barbados! The condo was pristine and quiet. We stayed with our two adult children and their spouses and had plenty of room and privacy. We spent lots of time between the pool and the beach, and a perfect location to walk in the Gap at our leisure. Great restaurants and nightlife just nearby yet the condo and property were so tranquil. This condo is perfect in every way, the staff so helpful and friendly. Restaurants were plentiful and surprisingly modestly priced. We highly recommend Ammikka!!
