Athenree Haven is located in the quaint village of Athenree on the far reaches of Tauranga Harbour, Western Bay of Plenty. Our brand new self- contained studio is the perfect, peaceful centrally located spot for a relaxing or energising getaway.
The comfortable studio consists of a 3 separate spaces: living/kitchenette, bedroom and bathroom finished in a simple, stylish, natural interior.
Directly outside the bedroom and living area is a spacious, private outdoor living area with a tropical garden vibe.
Stroll on foot to the beautiful harbour’s edge to kayak, swim, fish or simply enjoy spying the fantastic bird life plus schools of fish and stingrays swimming about. Or soak in the mineral hot pools also within walking distance of your stay.
Just a few minutes’ drive away is beautiful Waihi Beach with 9 kilometers of glorious surf beach to enjoy and explore. Pop on your walking shoes and head over to stunning Orokawa Bay or scamper up ‘The Trig’ and be rewarded with breathtaking views. Waihi Beach village has everything you may need: cafes, shops and a Sunday market. Nearby historic Waihi and the Karangahake Gorge offer bush walks, gold mine, a cycle trail and a steam train.
Book an extra night or two as there are so many attractions close by! Or simply pack a book, kick back and chill!

The space is small and quite lovely. Particularly enjoyed the deck which extended the space and was both a cool, quiet, and private. On a nice, quiet road that’s a short walk to the ocean.

Comfortable Studio in Great Location
Studio had been thoughtfully and newly decorated and provided all kitchen and bathroom assessories for a lovely stay. Nice to have a private deck with comfy outdoor furniture. Here for 5 days and still lots to do! Accommodation 5mins walking distance from mineral hot pools- also not far by car to Waihi Beach village with shops and restaurants. Bowentown Reserve provided spectacular views - a must!

Smart little tiny house. The only downside of its design is that I kept catching my shoulder on the edge of the wall-mounted TV - poorly thought out by the designers: should have been mounted on the other side of the window.

Small studio unit that is very well set out with everything that we needed. The outdoor room and the patio area is a lovely bonus. Easy walk along to the water views. We did find the winter bed linen hot. A good short stay stop.

Little bit of paradise

Our Overnight Getway
We loved our overnight stay at Athenree Haven, it's such a quaint little place and Sue and her hubby have made the space nice and private. I love tiny living and it was perfect for what we wanted to do - which was hang out at the beach and have some downtime. We appreciated being able to bring our dog - a 7kg carvoodle - to stay with us. At first, we thought the place was too open to let Darcy off-leash, but Sue shut the gate to the whole property not long after we arrived, which allowed our little girl to explore as she wanted, safely. Grateful for that. The only issue happened when we were leaving the next day. Darcy wasn't interested in getting in the car, so played 'catch me if you can' and found her way into the backyard of Sue's gated personal space. It took a fair bit of coaxing, and angry eyes, to get her back, th. Thankfully, Sue's hubby was very gracious with us retrieving her. Sue had given us a towel for Darcy for any accidents, but we had brought along waterproof pads, just in case - no accidents were had. The bed is comfortable and the internet works well. It's a fantastic spot to take it easy. Will book this place again in the future. Thanks for being great hosts, Sue

Wonderful location and delightful cottage
Perfectly sized for two of us. The right amount of space to snooze, read, eat and walk from. The beach at Waihi Beach was lovely and we enjoyed local yoga and massages. A very relaxing holiday.
