Beautiful Experience
Our Castaway Cabin stay was wonderful and truly an unforgettable experience. Firstly, the cabin is even better in person than the pictures portray. It is cozy, comfortable, immaculately clean and makes you feel relaxed the moment you walk in. Add the complete privacy plus serenity of the woods and creek and you experience nature at its best. Jack and Christy are excellent hosts who really care about you. All in all a 10,rating.

Very pretty spot
Great little getaway cabin for 2. The owner has a few rental cabins on thebriver on his property, so just make sure to get directions from him to get to the right spot (the address is to the entire property). The cabins are sporadic through the property, so you still have the feel (and reality) of being secluded.

Castaway Cabin
I rented the cabin for my parents 37th wedding anniversary and they had the most relaxing and peaceful stay. I visited my parents one day at the property and the listing pictures do not do it justice. The cabin is far above any other cabin I’ve ever rented. The custom woodwork and attention to detail should be award winning. Not to mention peace and tranquility the cabin has to offer nestled right on the Pigeon River. The cabin was amazing and will definitely be enjoying this cabin for myself soon.

You couldn’t ask for a better location. The cabin and view was far above what we expected. Once you get there you will not want to leave and Jack and Christy are great host. I would highly recommend booking this property

Not your typical mountain cabin
We enjoyed five nights in this beautiful cabin on Pigeon River and will definitely be back. We’ve rented many cabins over the years and Cast Away is by far, the best. High end cabin with everything needed for a wonderful vacation. Jack and Christy were excellent hosts and the farm animals visited us in the mornings. What a delight! We will definitely be back.

Perfect peaceful setting
I was needing some serious peace and quiet and this property was perfect. The cabin and the setting was beyond what I imagined. The attention to detail in the cabin and property was stellar. The owners went above and beyond for me. Couldn’t have been better; I’ll be back.

The perfect getaway
The cabin was perfect and the photos do not do it justice! The cabin was beautifully decorated and stocked better than any cabin we have ever rented. They thought of all of the extra touches! The outside space and view are the show stopper, though. We spent a lot of time sitting by the river and enjoying the view and sound. And we enjoyed the cows and horse in the pasture. Jack and Christy stopped by on the day we checked in just to make sure we didn’t need anything. The WiFi did not work at one point, so I text Jack and he stopped by and reset the router that same evening. They were fantastic hosts and this was the most peaceful spot. We will definitely be back!

Mountain Stream Therapy
After the intensity of burying a parent days before we found ourselves going to the mountain cabin we picked out months before. It was a balm to sit by the beautiful stream, cook in the well appointed kitchen, read on the porch and wander over to delightful Waynesville for some meals. Jack and Christy are wonderful hosts and as good as the photos are, they do not do justice to the unique experience the have created for their guests.

The best vacation home!
I booked this home for my parents anniversary and they absolutely loved it! They said that it was the best vacation they’ve ever had and that the place was absolutely beautiful. The hosts were very kind and even went above and beyond by dropping off a cake for them as a gift for their anniversary. The home was exceptionally clean and had everything they needed. They can’t wait to take another trip there soon!

The Newlyweds
From the second we arrived on the property, we didn't want to leave. The cabin far exceeded our expectations. It was incredibly peaceful. Between the river lazily babbling by the property and the morning visits from the herd of cattle, we were mesmerized by the beauty with which we were surrounded. The location is absolutely perfect, when looking up directions to sights of interest, we were continously surprised to see how close we were to all destinations. At the end of a long day hiking, or being out on the town, we found the ride back was an absolute delight. It really is a slice of heaven. Perfect mountain escape

Everything about this was perfect. It was easy to get to, centrally located to everything, the privacy, the beautiful stream that runs a few feet from your door, the pasture and the daily visits from the cows and horse, and the cleanliness. The cabin was fully furnished and stocked with everything you needed. The owners couldn’t be more accommodating. We loved it.

Anniversary Retreat
Absolutely Perfect! Precious private cabin on the peaceful and serene river on a gorgeous rolling mountain farm! The location is perfect - close to Waynesville, Maggie Valley and all surrounding towns. Great area for motorcycle riding - be aware that the road into the cabin is steep and narrow but it is paved down to the creek. We have a small enclosed trailer to haul our bike and we were fine and there is a place to park the trailer at the cabin. The hosts were gracious to offer us to park the trailer at their house on top of the mountain as well. Hosts were awesome! Very attentive but also allowed for privacy. Many great restaurants within 15 mins but cabin is well appointed for whatever you’d like to cook while there along with a covered patio overlooking the river with a grill. Cabin was super clean, comfortable and cozy! We can’t wait to return!! We’ve told all our friends also!!

Very nice waterfront cabin. Jack and Christy provided everything you need. Everything in the cabin is high quality. Enjoy your fishing while you’re staying there. We would recommend to stay here if you like privacy!

This property was even better than we expected. The river, the cabana, and the cabin were the perfect combination of cozy and serene for an amazing weekend. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. The hosts were responsive and ensured our anniversary weekend was special. We have decided this is our permanent go-to spot for vacation.

A Most Memorable Stay
This is a beautiful cabin! We spent our Thanksgiving holiday there and could not have been happier with the experience. Gorgeous views and the cabin itself was well stocked, bed was comfortable, beautiful kitchen and fireplace. I would say that our favorite part of the stay was the view and sound of the water. We were also visited by a beautiful and friendly horse! The cabin is also within a short distance of anything you may want to do in the area (Restaurants, Shopping, Hiking...etc..). The hosts are a wonderful couple who came by to say hello and a few days later brought by these amazing pastries! It was a wonderful gesture and we really appreciated it. We definitely recommend this cabin and look forward to staying again! With much thanks to our wonderful hosts! Thanks a million, Richard & Grace

Beautiful cabin right on the Pigeon River in Waynesville NC. Great location for Maggie Valley and Blue Ridge Parkway in NC. Owner of cabin lives on the property and is always available but not intrusive. Overall great experience.

I can't say enough good things about our stay! As we arrived, we saw Jack fishing in the river, and if my husband wasn't excited enough about getting out there, that stirred him even more. I could barely get him to bring our luggage in before getting the fishing gear out. He was already in heaven before he stepped in the cabin. Jack walked up and greeted us as we arrived. I messaged him a couple of times and he responded so quickly. This was our annual anniversary weekend where we get away, unplug, and reconnect with nature and each other and this was the most perfect place to do just that. We were close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Asheville but still felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. The cabin was spotless and have everything we needed and more. We grilled out and had coffee on the porch. We watched the cows across the river and fished the river for hours. You will not regret staying here and we can't wait to get back!
