Mountain Laurel House

The Mountain Laurel House is a cottage style rental that can comfortably accommodate 6 guests. With a master bedroom (1 queen bed) and an open loft (2 queen beds), there is ample room for families and couples who are visiting the southern West Virginia coalfield region. Each room in the cottage has its own mini-split HVAC unit, ensuring everyone is comfortable, no matter where they are in the house. The spacious bathroom features a double sink vanity and a tub/shower combo. Additionally, there is a full kitchen -- stocked with dishes, utensils, and cookware -- making the Mountain Laurel House a home-away-from-home.
The Hatfield McCoy Recreation Center is right next door to the property, providing bowling, food, and other activities once you return from a day of riding. Other eateries and gas stations are within a 5 minute drive, as well.
Guests can enjoy the beautiful mountain views each evening from the covered front porch, or they can sit by a fire in the yard while they take in the serenity and solitude of the surroundings.
Located 1/2 mile from Buffalo Mountain trailhead, trailering to Trailhead 14 isn’t necessary; you can ride from the property right to the trailhead. There’s also plenty of parking on the property, making unloading your ATV/UTV effortless.

Perfect getaway!
My wife son and I stayed here for 3 nights for my 40th to ride the Hatfield McCoy trials. The location was perfect! Derek was phenomenal! Always checked in to see if we needed anything! The home was perfect! Very clean and modern! We are already planning our next trip back and will definitely be booking here again!the added bonus was Banjo the dog! If you’re not a dog person he will stay away however if you are like me and my family!”, he was the sweetest friendliest dog! Thanks again for everything Derek and Ashley! Tell Banjo we miss him!

This house was so nice and clean!! 2 rooms and a lot bigger than the pictures. My husband and me stayed down stairs our son love the loft all to himself. The own is welcoming. I loved the dog!! Such a great place to stay!!!

Hatfield and McCoy getaway
It was a great place to stay nice and clean cottage everything you needed , located in a private area. The owner of the cottage had checked on us occasionally to see if we needed anything and said if we didn't have what we needed just let him know he would make sure we had it. They were very nice people. We even got to meet his family. We enjoyed a few nice evenings sitting by a fire, listening to music and cooking out on a grill that was provided with the rental property also had an on-site pressure washer to clean our side-by-side which I thought was very nice to have as an option. Did not have to go into town and find a car wash to clean. Could clean there at the cottage every night and start the next day with a fresh clean machine to ride the next day. The whole place smelt clean and fresh as well as the linens and as we sat outside in the evenings we could smell fragrances from the mountain flowers. We would highly recommend this place to anyone as we were treated like royalties as we stayed are for four nights at this location, I want to thank Derrick and his family for having us. 👍

House is just as advertized. Very close to Buffalo Mountain trail head. Conveniently located between Williamson and Delbarton. House was very clean upon arrival. The owner Derek is very helpful with anything you need. Will go back and highly recommended!!!

Exactly what we needed!
Great little place in an awesome location to access the HM trails. Trailhead is literally right up the road/ no need to trailer anywhere. House is small but has absolutely everything you need for a great stay. Ample parking for truck and trailer. I can’t say enough about how great the hosts are! Very friendly and super accommodating. Thanks for making our mini vacation stress free! PS- the top notch security guard Banjo keeps all the birds and critters away😂. 🐶

Family Christmas SXS Trip 2023
I found this little home away from home and absolutely fell in love with it! This has been our favorite place to stay by far in the times we have rode on WV at HM trails! Derek made the process of checking in so easy and was there for any questions. Banjo was a great greeting to us every day when we returned ☺️. We made many family memories in this home and we will definitely be back! I am sure we have found our place for each trip to HM trails! Thank you Derek and family (including Banjo) for your hospitality and warm greetings! We can’t wait to return!!

Perfect spot to ride the trails!!
We stayed here over Thanksgiving weekend and it was the perfect spot! We had a large trailer for our SxS’s and there was plenty of room! The trails are super close and you can ride the roads to get to any of the trailheads! The house is perfect! The communication with Derek was always timely and he was willing to go above and beyond on a few of our requests! Added bonus is sweet Banjo who will welcome you every day! We loved it and will definitely be back!!

Quiet location with great trail access
Derek was very accommodating. There is plenty of parking even with a trailer. The place was very clean. The fire pit was great. The location is very easy to find and easily accessible. We had everything we needed.

Home away from home
This little cottage is absolutely beautiful. It sits in a strange place, behind a bowling Alley. But don't let that deter your stay!! It is amazingly quiet, and private. The owners are amazing people with plenty of hospitality. They had us a cake on the counter with confetti, plates, etc. For our anniversary. We can't say enough good things about the cottage, the family, and our stay. This is a MUST STAY. You'll be glad that you did.

This was our second time staying at this cabin. It is very quiet and private. The cabin was very clean and we sat around a fire at night. The owner is very friendly and will make sure you have everything you would need. We will stay there again!

The house is very nice and clean. It's very private from the road with only the owners home in front and back of a bowling alley past them. The property is right in the middle of several Buffalo mountain trails within a very short ride either way on the road. I would definitely stay again. The owners are terrific.

Family Fun Getaway
Our family stay here was nothing short of amazing! Very serene and quiet. We rode ATV mountain trails for 3 days and made some of the BEST family memories. House was stocked and ready upon our arrival. Located just minutes from dining, groceries, and most necessities. Derrick and Ashley were the most accommodating and even brought us fresh local tomatoes. Their dog, Banjo is one of the coolest you will meet. Beds are very comfortable, each room is climate controlled to your preference, kitchen is fully stocked, and whatever laundry detergent they use smells AMAZING! (There is no washer/dryer) so pack accordingly. Keurig coffee maker and standard coffee pot are available for use. Front porch/chairs offered amazing views to relax and enjoy nature. We spent most of our time enjoying the outdoors but our time spent inside the cabin was so cozy and comfortable. There is a bowling alley within walking distance, we did not go but always an option for entertainment. We had a blast and we will be back soon. **Do not let the location deter you from this rental** it is deceiving when you first pull in, tucked behind the bowling alley, but they are a hidden gem located in the majestic mountains of West Virginia 💙
